'Ar Gered' (loosely translated as 'setting off on a walk') is a programme of monthly guided walks in spring, autumn and winter in some of the prettiest places in north Ceredigion in order to create a new opportunity for people to come together to speak Cymraeg.
In the Cardigan area, Cerddwyr Cylch Teifi provide an opportunity for Welsh speakers and learners to enjoy each other’s company while walking.Welsh will be the language of the walk, so if you are beginning to learn you may not be able to follow much of what is said but it is an ideal opportunity to use all the Welsh you have learned and you can ask others to give you the gist – but please try to avoid using ‘English-only’ in any conversation.
Cymdeithas Edward Llwyd is a Wales wide, natural history organization for people who appreciate and want to learn more about the natural environment, geography and heritage of their Wales. It is named after Edward Llwyd (1660 -1709) the Welsh natural historian, geographer, linguist, and antiquary whose mother hailed from Ceredigion.
Field trips are held most Saturdays in each of three geographic areas: South and Mid Wales, North East Wales and Gwynedd and Anglesey. The field trips are led by people with a specialised and local knowledge of the flora, fauna and history of the area. Welsh learners are always welcome to join the field trips.
